Being creative isn’t on-demand

It’s Friday and the creative juices are flowing…..looking at the calendar, it’s been a couple of weeks since my last post. Let me explain, being creative doesn’t always come when you want it to. This is what has been going on with me the past 14 days. The “dam” finally broke two days ago and I’ve been letting it lead where the paint, paper, and glue want to take me.

I’ve added random ephemera  to each canvas; anything from receipts for groceries to scraps of paper left from other projects. Although these items are easily seen, after another half dozen layers they will only be peeking through. I added  a wash of paint over each canvas. Now I wait for that to dry and for the next layer or 3. In the meantime, I wanted to show you the progress.

That’s it for now. I need to get my art lesson ready for this afternoon. I have started teaching an art lesson a couple times a month for my 9yo son’s class. It’s more fun than I thought, because the kids are so excited to learn about artists and all types of art. Ciao !

Square Fun

Step 1: I started with 3 square canvases and laid down a single color on each that complimented the dyed paper from a few weeks ago.

Step 2: Added torn piece of the dyed paper on each with a glue & water mixture. Let that dry then using a paint knife a smear of acrylic medium with various textures. On the green square I used a wet sponge; on the blue smeared with the paint knife & an accidental blob; the purple again using the paint knife in a more swirling fashion.

This will take a day to dry before I can continue. Plus I’m heading out of town for a much needed get away with my guy. More on these next week! Go out and create a great day!!
